Populus Tremuloides

This is the final image for the project I talked about in [link]

My assignment was to make an iconographic image with a designed typeface for a species from nature. I chose the quaking aspen, whose scientific name is Populus Tremuloides.

This is 7.5x10 inches on illustration board, done in gouache.

I chose to paint the trees in their fall colors mostly because I can't mix a very tree-like green with the particular blue I have in gouache. Also, that is kinda what these trees are known for, eh?
